Mother-of-pearl, or nacre, is formed by oysters and other molluscs to protect from foreign irritants. Makes sense that some associate it with protection – in the Victorian era, mother-of-pearl was even inlaid in the handles of guns and knives.

Due to its polished white look, mother-of-pearl is often used to symbolize the moon. You can find this imagery continued in this men’s bracelet. The almond-shaped iridescent mother-of-pearl is surrounded by natural onyx beads on a strong black rope, bringing to mind the bright moon in the dark night sky.
