If you’re in doubt about your size, get a bigger one. You can permanently shorten the belt using only a flathead screwdriver, a pair of tough scissors, and a hole puncher. Don’t take too much off, though. You know what tends to happen to us men as we age… apart from getting more handsome, that is.
